Good presentation of research results is mandatory for gaining acceptance, consideration and respect within the scientific community as well as appealing to the interested public. Excellent science should be written comprehensibly and clearly structured in order to engage a heterogeneous audience. This also includes attractive illustrations. Since August 2008, I have been a freelance editor of the life science journal BIOspektrum. Additionally to the acquisition of authors and evaluating scientific papers, I am responsible for illustration editing.
